Former representative of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe, has alleged a plot by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to stop the election of Barrister Worgu Boms as National Vice Chairman, South-South at the forthcoming convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Abe, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson said Amaechi has been shopping from Court to Court looking for a Judge to grant him an injunction to stop Worgu Boms from contesting in the election.
According to the statement, Abe wondered why those who profess to be democrats would not allow the people to have a say in a democracy.
“We are aware that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has been shopping for a court order, an injunction to stop Barrister Worgu Boms from contesting as National Vice Chairman, South-south at the forthcoming APC National Convention in Abuja.
“He is also planning to send people to demonstrate at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja as part of his campaign to stop Barrister Worgu Boms.
“We feel that those who profess to be democrats should allow the people to have a say in a democracy.
“They should take their matter to the convention and let the delegates decide,” Abe said.
