FG begins evacuation of citizens from Ukraine

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday says it is expecting a batch of no less than 100 Nigerians into the city of Budapest, the Hungarian capital.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, said 130 and 74 Nigerians have been received safely at Bucharest, Romania and Budapest, Hungary respectively by officials of the Nigerian Embassy.

The arrivals, according to the commission, have been provided accommodation and are being documented, while arrangements are ongoing to bring them back to Nigeria.

Aduda added that 52 Nigerians have been received in Warsaw, Poland, while 23 are being processed at the Polish Government Reception Point at Hala Kijowska.

“Also, officials at Budapest, Hungary, have received and accommodated 74 Nigerians safely, where they are being documented for subsequent travel arrangements back to Nigeria.

“In Warsaw, Poland, we have received 52 Nigerians and 23 are being processed at the Polish Government Reception Point at Hala Kijowska, Milny 90, 37-552 Milny, which is near the border of Korczowa-Krakowiec.

“The camp is well organised with beds and beddings, food, heating, clothing and materials for evacuees,” the statement read.

It assured that arrangements were being put in place to effectively and safely evacuate more Nigerian citizens in the war-ravaged areas.
