Rivers Police rescue two children kidnapped from their mother’s shop

The Rivers State Police command says it has rescued two children who were allegedly kidnapped from their mother’s shop in Port Harcourt 5 months ago and arrested three suspects.

Disclosing this in a statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday said operatives of the command rescued the children aged 12 and 4 following a covert operation on June 2021, and February 23, 2022, respectively.

He said the three suspects linked to the incident are currently under investigation and would be charged to court soon.

According to him, the command is working tirelessly to ensure the arrest of other fleeing members of the kidnap cartel.

“You could recall that on 25th of September 2020, two little children were stolen from their mother in her shop, the children are Favour Boniface and Miracle Boniface, and just two days ago on the 23rd of February, 2022, we were able to rescue that little girl and arrest three suspects in connection with that matter.”

“Favour Ajuzie 30, stole the little baby in conjunction with Chioma Chibuike 43 years and sold the baby to Comfort Abatuo, 56, and that child had been living with that woman since then until the child was rescued,” he added.

Meanwhile, summarizing the command’s achievements in February, the commissioner said,

“No of suspected kidnappers — 11; No of suspected Armed Robbers -8; No. of suspected child Traffickers-3; No of Arms Recovered — 4; No. of Locally Made guns — 4; No of Cartridges — 10.”

Other recovered items include, 2 Magazines, 44 Ammunition, 9 Recovered Vehicles and 3 Mobile Phones.
