Rivers United football club of Port Harcourt has launched a fully equipped ambulance in a bid to respond to any emergency situation within the club.
Speaking to newsmen before the team’s departure to Okigwe for NPFL matchday 13 fixture against Abia Warriors, the Sole Administrator of the club Barrister Chris Green said the ambulance donated by the Rivers State Government will provide the supportive service when needed.
“The wellbeing of the players and officials of the club remains a top priority to the sponsors of the club, the Rivers State Government through our number one supporter Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), Executive Governor Rivers State. You know football is a contact sport and the need to respond to the emergency situation caused by injury warranted the acquisition of this fully equipped ambulance”.
”It was put to use in our last home match against Wikki Tourist when two players sustained a head injury after a collision. The ambulance will not just be used during our home games but it will be on ground during every training session and also travel with the team to our away matches. As a club, we will continue to do everything to ensure we provide the needed support for our players and officials to succeed”Green stated.
The Pride of Rivers are currently top of the NPFL log with 25 points from 12 matches this season.
Eguma eyes good result in Okigwe
Speaking ahead of the matchday 13 fixture against Abia Warriors, the Technical Adviser of Rivers United Stanley Eguma says the team is seeking to secure maximum points against their rivals on Thursday.
Eguma said the game will be a derby and noted that derbies are very difficult but expressed optimism in the ability of the team to get a good result during the match.
He said that with good tactics and precise execution of their plans, Rivers United will conquer their rival in Okigwe.
