NFF names Emmanuel Amuneke as Super Eagles head coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, announced the appointment of Emmanuel Amuneke as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

It also announced the appointment of other coaching crew for the senior national team, including Austin Eguavon as Interim Technical Adviser.

Eguavoen had led the Super Eagles team to the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where they crashed out after losing to Tunisia in the round of sixteen.

A statement by NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said the development was part of activities to reconstitute the technical committee of the national team.

“The NFF Board has approved a recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee retaining Augustine Eguavoen as Technical Director/Technical Adviser (interim) while Emmanuel Amuneke becomes the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles.

“Salisu Yusuf will be the 2nd Assistant Coach/Chief Coach of the CHAN team and Joseph Yobo will be 3rd Assistant while Aloysius Agu remains the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.

“We acknowledge and appreciate the interest that Mr Jose Peseiro has shown in Nigeria Football during our very cordial discussions and have absolutely no doubt about his capacity,” the statement added.
