The Technical Adviser of Rivers United Football Club Stanley Eguma says the team is still a work in progress despite their three-nil bashing of visiting Kwara United in their matchday six tie in Port Harcourt.
Goals from Nyima Nwagua, Ishaq Rabiu, and Chidiebere Duru gave the hosts the three maximum points.
Rivers United now has 12 points from six games to remain second on the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL table.
Stanley Eguma while praising his players for their excellent performance said the league is far from over.
Eguma said the team will continue to improve in subsequent games in their bid to earn a continental ticket at the end of the season.
”It’s not yet time for us to start singing hurray. That team is still a work in progress. We started well, we hope that we maintain the tempo because every club is very strong, we still have very tough opposition to meet. I wouldn’t say that it is yet over. Rather I will appeal to Rivers people to pray and support the team. We’ll not let down this time around because we have players that are hungry. Players that have that winning mentality that is ready to win laurels at all time” he said.
On the fine form of the team in the ongoing season, the Technical Manager of Rivers United Stanley Eguma, however, attributed the team’s success to motivated and good tactical judgment from the technical crew of the team.
”The tactical approach and then the mentality of the players and then motivation. I think the team is well motivated and the players are in the right frame of mind, their spirit is high and they want to deliver, most of them are hungry, most of them want to make names for themselves and that is secret of our success” he noted.
Next for Rivers United is a visit to MFM fc at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
