Hoodlums attack traders in Port Harcourt, attempt snatching rifle from soldier

Hoodlums suspected to be cultists at about have invaded Bayelsa line in Mile 3 market, Diobu, Port Harcourt, breaking into shops and robbing customers and traders off their money and valuables.

Some of the shop owners who narrated the ordeal to our correspondent but pleaded anonymity lamented that they lost many of their valuables and money to the hoodlums.

The Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu Oroworukwo community, Godstime Ihunwo where the Mile 3 market is situated, in interview said it was combined effort of youths in the area, Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3 and Octopus Strike Force unit that led to the arrest of eleven hoodlums suspected to be involved in the crime.

Ihunwo also condemned alleged attempt made by the rampaging hoodlums to snatch riffle from a soldier attached to a construction company working at Ikoku junction, Ikwerre road that same day .

As at press time, it was gathered that five of the hoodlums are being detained at Octopus strike force while six are being detained at Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3.

When contacted the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Grace Iringe Koko told our correspondent that her office is on the process of issuing a press release on the incident soon.
