Prosecute rapist pastors, Rivers CAN backs security agents

Brave Dickson

The Rivers State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has given a marching order to security agents to ensure they prosecute anyone indulges in rape under the guise of a cleric.

The state Chairman of CAN, Apostle Stanley Dimkpa made this known to our correspondent in view of the alarming rate of rape cases involving clergymen.

Dimkpa urged security agents not to allow any rape case that involved a pastor to be swept under the carpet, adding that such fake clerics are dragging the name of Christ in the mud.

According to him, “rape cases of such magnitude should not end in the police station alone but be brought to court for prosecution.

“We should not call them men of God because no genuine man of God will contemplate rape.

“Rape is wickedness and evil and only fake pastors or clerics who the Bible calls wolves in sheep clothing will commit rape.

“We are calling on the law enforcement agencies of government to unleash the full wrath of the law on anyone who indulges in rape.”

Report has it that a lot of rape cases involving clerics only ends at the police station where the accused gets bailed and the matter ends there.
