Rivers Police rescue kidnapped job seeker lured from Delta to Port Harcourt, arrest suspects

Rivers State Police Command has arrested no less than six suspected kidnappers in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson of the command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, said the suspects were involved in the abduction of a job seeker identified as Adele Emmanuel.

It was learnt that the victim was lured from Delta State to Port Harcourt using a fraudulent employment tactic.

According to him, “The trio of Bright Williams’ m’ 22yrs, Queen Effiong Edem ‘f’ 20yrs and Ndidi Apaka’ m’ were arrested in connection with the case of the kidnapping of Adele Emmanuel who was lured from Delta State to Port Harcourt for a non-existent employment.”

“While in Port Harcourt, he was held hostage and kept in a Hotel at Obeama, Oyigbo LGA, where the Police Operative’s through intelligence-led, stormed and rescued him.

“Three suspects, including the Director of the Hotel, a lady and one of the gang members, were arrested and are helping us in our investigation. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he added.

In a similar kidnap incident, the command also rescued a victim identified as Olaide Oluwaseun, abducted along Abacha Road and taken to an unknown destination.

The Police spokesperson explained that upon investigation, operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnap.

“In the course of the investigation, operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit worked on some clues which led to the arrest of Precious Amadi’ m’ 27yrs and Williams Okon’ m’ 20yrs who took the Police to their camp at Obeama in Oyigbo LGA where the victim was rescued unhurt 24/11/2021,” he said.

Omoni noted that the apprehended suspects confessed to the crime, while efforts are on to arrest others and recover their operational weapons.
