Gunmen abduct passengers in Abia

No less than 10 passengers were on Wednesday abducted by gunmen along the Isuikwuato/Uturu Road, Abia state.

It was gathered that the passengers travelling from Uturu to Isuikwuato were abducted by criminals suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, Daily Sun reports.

Reports reveal that the passengers feared to be lecturers and students of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu were forced out of their vehicles by the hoodlums and carted away to an undisclosed location.

It was learnt that although soldiers at a nearby checkpoint had engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, the gunmen succeeded in taking their victims’ hostage.
