Delta Police prevent lynching of POS robbers by angry youths

Two suspected armed robbers were beaten to stupor after they allegedly tried robbing a female POS operator in Ughelli, Delta state.

It was gathered that the suspects were arrested at Onoharigho street after the female operator held one of the suspect’s by his trouser despite a threat to shoot her.

Her shout for help attracted youths in the area who pursued the suspected thieves, apprehended them, and beat them up.

Confirming the development, the Delta State police spokesperson, Bright Edafe said the timely intervention of operatives from the Ughelli area command prevented the suspects from being set ablaze by angry youths.

Edafe said a third suspect escaped with their operational motorcycle and a cut-to-size gun, leaving the two suspects behind.

He stated that the suspects are presently in detention at the police area command in Ughelli, while efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
