Pharmacists hold road walk to raise awareness against covid-19

Ugochukwu Iwuchukwu

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN has called on Nigerians to help the government’s effort to end covid-19 infections by getting vaccinated.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria made this known during a Health Walk with the theme ‘WALK FOR VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19’ in Port Harcourt during the 94th National Conference of PSN in Port Harcourt.

The Pharmacists who marched from Civic Centre Moscow Road through Hospital Road and Bernard Carr in Port Harcourt shared flyers and other materials to create awareness about the effectiveness of covid-19 vaccines.

The Pharmacists also used the opportunity to let raise awareness about their 94th National Conference taking place at the Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre Port Harcourt.

The President of PSN, Sam Ohuabunwa during the walk said COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

Sam Ohuabunwa said Nigerians should visit any health centre across the country to get vaccinated.

We did what is called awareness walk, enlightenment walk, advocacy walk. We’re walking to say Pharmacists are in town from all over the country and in the diaspora. We’re in this Garden City. We’re pushing for the end of covid-19. And we believe that one way to end it is to get everyone vaccinated. So we’re pushing for vaccination that all Nigerians should get vaccinated. The vaccines are safe, they are protective, so that is the only way we can be protected from covid-19. God has already helped us to make the incident and virulence low, but we will help ourselves more when we get vaccinated” he said.

Our four thousand pharmacists are currently taking part in the 94th National Conference of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN taking part in Port Harcourt.
