22-year-old remanded in prison for sexually abusing minors

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded in prison custody, a twenty-two (22) year old man, Joshua Efe, charged for unlawful and indecent assault of four male minors in Port Harcourt.

The suspect, Joshua Efe who was arraigned in court by the Police faces one count charge for allegedly sexually abusing four boys aged nine, eleven, twelve and sixteen years old.

According to the charge read in court, Joshua Efe on the 25 October, 2021, at N0 8 Ekwulobia street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt did unlawfully and indecently assaulted Winner Chikazie ‘m’ aged 9, Soikepirim Obene aged 11, Michael Reuben ‘m’ aged 12 and Orusakwe Izuchukwu ‘m’ aged 16 year, by touching the penis and breast of the aforementioned children, seducing them by promising them different gifts as to engage them in an unnatural offences thereby committed an offence punishable under section 353 of the criminal code cap 37 vol.11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999 .

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him.

Meanwhile, Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo, adjourned the case to 18 November, and remanded the Defendant in PortHarcourt correctional Centre for bail consideration and hearing.
