Nigerian Soldiers have arrested ten suspected kidnappers in the Aba area of Abia state.
The soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Asa, nabbed the 10-man gang, who allegedly gained access to the house of a businessman, one Mr Ebuka Isaac, residing at Umuozuo off Arise and Shine, Osisioma Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the hoodlums gained access into the victim’s house on Friday night by climbing in through his fence.
The suspects, who were reportedly armed with locally made guns, abducted the victim and drove him away in his RAV 4 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
It was also gathered that the kidnappers had also carted away with plasma television, bank ATM card and other valuables belonging to the victim.
Confirming the arrests, the army officer attached to the battalion said soldiers reportedly stormed the criminals’ hideout at Borrow Pit, by Ubani Street, off Ariaria junction, following credible intelligence.
According to the officer, when the criminals, who had already started making demands for ransom from the victim’s family, suspected security operatives were trailing them, they abandoned him in the bush and fled to the Borrow Pit.
However, they were trailed to Borrow Pit, where they were arrested.
Subsequently, the businessman was rescued, including his SUV, while the ten kidnap suspects were arrested.
According to reports, the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
