The management of Lubrik Construction Company LTD (LCC) has accused the people of Kalabari of being responsible for the kidnapping of the company’s expatriate.
In an interview with Standard Observers, the company alleged that the ethnic nationality was responsible for the disappearance of its expatriate, kidnapped along the Kalabari/Emohua Road in Rivers State.
According to the company’s Public Relations Officer, Orolosama Peter Amachree, the disappearance of the expatriate affected the ongoing works at the Trans-Kalabari-Road.
Amachree noted that his release had restored momentum to workers, as they look forward to meeting the time target of the construction.
“it is unfortunate that the Kalabari people we are constructing a road for were responsible for the kidnapping of our expatriate.
“Since our expatriate was kidnapped, work on the Trans-Kalabari Road became slow because workers were not happy.
“But we thank God that he has been released unhurt and work has resumed fully in order to meet the time target of the construction.
“We are sure that those who have been criticizing Governor Nyesom Wike for not doing anything in Kalabariland are behind the kidnapping of our expatriate.”
On his part, the Chairman of IYC Kalabari Clan, Edward Asikitams, maintained that some youths of other ethnicities connived with some people of Kalabari to kidnap the expatriate to disrupt the peace and development in Kalabariland.
“some conditions were met before the expatriate was released, and we will meet with the stakeholders of other ethnicities to warm their youths.”
The victim is one of the workers of LCC handling the Trans- Kalabari-Road recently awarded by the state government.
TPCN had reported that about ten gunmen had abducted the victim attached to the construction firm along the Kalabari/Emohua Road.
However, his release was announced on Monday by the Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Roland Sekibo, after a security meeting with his counterparts from Degema, Emohua, Asari-Toru local government council of the state.
