IPOB: Chiwetalu Agu re-arrested by DSS

The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly arrested veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, after his release from the custody of the Nigerian Army.

This development was confirmed by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, who spoke to The Punch on Friday.

Agu was arrested by soldiers on Thursday at the Upper Iweka axis in Onitsha, Anambra State for dressing in a Biafran motivated outfit.

The Nigerian Army in a statement had said that the actor was arrested “while inciting members of the public and soliciting for support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.”

However, after his release by the military on Friday, the actor was re-arrested by the DSS.

According to the AGN president, the actor was arrested by the secret police shortly after his release by the Nigerian Army.

“The AGN is aware that the DSS has picked up Chiwetalu Agu after the Nigerian Army arrested him.

“We are currently working on securing his release.”

The motive of the arrest is yet to be ascertained as the DSS is yet to give a statement concerning the development.
