Uniport cancels wild jubilations after exams

The University of Port Harcourt has said that wild jubilation by students after examinations are forthwith canceled as such practices go against the rules of the institution.

A press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Sam Kpenu said the attention of the school management has been drawn to recent wild jubilation on-campus that almost claimed the life of a student.

Kpenu explained that the school management has reviewed such jubilations as “an act of nuisance” aimed at disturbing the peace of the University community while adding that activities such as mounting music equipment, rough-riding on campus, turning of wears into rag, throwing sachet water among others have been suspended.

He added that any student found flouting the order would be punished in accordance with the rules governing the institution as Deans of Faculty and Heads of Department are advised to strictly monitor the conduct of students, particularly, final year students after their final examination.
