Lornke

A public affairs analyst and a lecturer at the faculty of social science, university of Port Harcourt, Dr Steve Wordu has called on the Nigerian government to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive especially entrepreneurs.

Dr Wordu made this assertion in an interview with our correspondent while reacting to a U. S based global business data platform Statista that forecasted the unemployment rate in Nigeria in 2021 at 32.5%.

They said the figure is projected to increase in 2022.

According to Dr Wordu, it is the responsibility of the government to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs which is based on infrastructural facilities and business expansion.

“Graduate unemployment has given rise to graduate crime in the country which includes cybercrime and Ponzi,” he said.

On his part, communication instructor, Godwin Pius admonished graduates from tertiary institutions to desist from the entitlement mentality but to seek how to solve problems in the society and proffer solutions to in turn get paid.

Also speaking, the acting head of department industrial technical education at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Dr Isaac Ogundu who also spoke in an interview advised the government to declare a state of emergency by creating skills for undergraduates to acquire and deliberate effort must be made to look at teaching methods in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
