Witches laud Ayade over dismissal of his aide

A witch group in Cross River State, Advocacy For Witches, (AFAW), has commended the governor, Ben Ayade for the dismissal of his Special Adviser on Forest Security, Mr Thomas Tawo popularly known as “General Iron”.

Tawo was sacked on the allegations of attempted murder of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former special adviser to the governor on administration, Mark Obi, who sustained severe injuries during an attack.

A statement by the AFAW director, Mr Leo Igwe, described Tawo as a notorious witch hunter, who has been terrorising them.

The group claimed that Tawo had carried out operations that involved abduction and torture of about fifteen of its members in Boki Local Government Area of the state, without anyone taking action against him.

Igwe noted that no one stood up for the victims of the vicious attack, including his mother, who was allegedly tortured and set on fire.

The statement added that the suspect led some thugs to launch an attack on Mr Mark Obi, leaving him unconscious and threatening to kill him if he fails to settle them.

Igwe further noted that the suspect’s dismissal from service would give way for justice of its members, who were attacked in the Boki witch hunt.

“Mr Thomas Tawo has used his government position to act above the law and shield himself from prosecution and accountability. Now that he has been relieved of his duties, the police and government of Cross River State should ensure that he is arrested and prosecuted,” he added.
