The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof Nlerum Okogbule says the institution has zero tolerance for cultism and examination malpractice.

Prof Nlerum Okogbule during the 39th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution told the matriculating students that the institution will expel any students found culpable of such vices.

He also asked the students to take their studies seriously.

The Vice-Chancellor also declared Thursday 15th and Friday 16th July 2021 as lecture free-days for all year one student to enable them to conclude their admission processes.

Nlerum Okogbule asked the students to ensure they complete their registration before Friday, July 24th, 2021.

He said any admitted students that failed to regularize their registration processes on that date will forfeit his/her admission.

”Let me state unequivocally that the key to success in an institution such as this is hard work and unwavering focus on your academic assignment. You are therefore expected to take your studies seriously and not waste your valuable time on unproductive ventures or activities”.

”In this connection, let me inform you that the university has zero-tolerance for all forms of anti-social activities such as membership of secret cult groups, examination malpractices or what is now known as ‘sorting’. The penalty for involvement in any of these activities is rustication from the university and I do not waste time in doing this once the student is found culpable” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof Nlerum Okogbule revealed that the institution will award scholarships to students who attain a CGPA of 5.0 every session.

The University will be responsible for the school fees of such students provided their CGPA do not fall below 4.50.
