The Amanyanabo of Abonnema, His Majesty, King Barr Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel, has been appointed Chancellor of Benue State University.
The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, officially informed the Abonnema Monarch of the appointment during a courtesy visit to his palace at Owukori Square, Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, yesterday, being Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
Governor Ortom was represented at the occasion by the Benue State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Dennis Ifyaryar.
Explaining the reason for the visit, Prof. Ifyaryar said it was to officially pay the Abonnema King homage in his new capacity as the Chancellor of Benue State University.
He said King Disrael Bob-Manuel’s appointment as Chancellor of the epic institution was based on merit, given his academic background and professional pedigree, trado-social status and wealth of experience.
The Benue State Commissioner for Education expressed hope that the appointment would further deepen the existing relationship between Benue and Rivers States.
He thanked the Abonnema Monarch for the warm welcome he accorded them.
“The delegation will want to thank you for your great hospitality and words of wisdom,” he said.
Responding, the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Barr Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel, thanked the Benue State Government for the appointment.
He promised to bring his wealth of knowledge to bear in the exercise of his functions as Chancellor of the Benue State University, adding that he knows what the position entails.
The Benue State delegation included the principal officers of the Benue State University, other government officials and members of the Benue State Community in Rivers State.
