Hours after the ultimatum given to the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) by Governor Nyesom Wike on Friday, the agency has summoned an emergency meeting.
The meeting, TPCN gathered, held at the Conference Hall of RIWAMA’s Secretariat at Ikwerre Road, Mile 3, Port Harcourt on Saturday and was attended by all service providers working with the agency.
Also summoned to attend the emergency meeting were all stakeholders and contractors that have anything to do with the agency.
A source told TPCN that the emergency meeting was going to be compulsory for all RIWAMA’s service providers and stakeholders.
According to the source, any service provider that failed to attend the meeting might have its contract terminated.
TPCN learnt that the notice for the emergency meeting was announced on air and was signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to RIWAMA chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah.
Although the agenda of the meeting were not disclosed, TPCN gathered that the reasons for the emergency meeting would not be unconnected with Governor Nyesom Wike’ deadline to RIWAMA to clear Port Harcourt of the filth littered on some of her major roads.
The Rivers Governor gave the two-week ultimatum on Friday (yesterday) during a state-wide broadcast.
He had expressed dismay that some major roads in Port Harcourt are still littered with refuse, thereby defacing the beauty of the city.
