At least five soldiers have been shot dead along Wetheral Road Owerri in Imo State following an attack by unknown gunmen attacked the area.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 8.30 pm on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen ambushed the soldiers and opened fire on them.
They later escaped before security agencies from neighbouring areas could arrive at the scene.
The whole area has been shut down and condone off by security agencies just as rapid gunshots continued to rent the air.
