IYC president abducted by masked gunmen in Port Harcourt

The president of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide, Peter Timothy Igbifa was on Tuesday kidnapped by unknown masked men with gun along Port Harcourt international airport road.

He was abducted at about 8:45 am on his way to Abuja while his driver was not touched.

Igbifa had given the federal government 30 days to reconstitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC or face massive protests.

Egbesu Apostles while reacting to the development asked Ijaw youths to defend their kingdoms.

The traditional Apostle of Ijaw Nation and coordinator of the Egbesu Brotherhood, Prince Bodmas-Kemepadei, while condemning the abduction of Igbifa, described the act as a desecration of the sanctity of Ijaw stool.

He noted that it is an attempt to test the will and strength of the mighty Ijaw Nation.

“I call on all patriots of this land to obey the call of the land, as you have all heard, the President of our revered council has been abducted, investigations reveal that he is under the captivity of security agents, orchestrated by the self-imposed feudal Lord of the NDDC.

“The crime of Igbifa is demanding for the Constitution of a substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in line with the NDDC act.

“On the issue of the forensic audit, we have been patient, the last time, they said three months, we tolerated, now it’s more than three months, is there an interior motive?

“Do not be distracted and misguided by twisted facts, it is just a well-planned scheme with collaborators within to thwart the efforts of our agitations and discourage the commencement of tomorrow’s protest.

“The arrest of Igbifa must be considered as a sacrilege, a desecration of our sanctity and to test our will and strength. It, therefore, requires us to reciprocate, not for ourselves, but to uphold the dignity and honour of Ijaw Nation as demonstrated by our heroes past.

“The death of Isaac boro has birthed more Adaka Boros, the struggle continues, be inspired by the words and actions of Late Isaac Boro, the twelve-day revolution was just a litmus test compared to what we can do in unity.

“For those in the creek, protest against the IOCs, ask them to leave.

“All Ijaw sons and daughters should come out in their numbers, do not wait to be mobilised, this is a fight for the survival of your ethnic nationality, pocket your grievances, this is not time for name-calling and infighting, this is time to defend the Ijaw name, tomorrow it may be you.

“May the prayers of Agadagba spur our spirit and May Woyin guide and protect us all”.
