Unknown gunmen have attacked Bende police station in Bende local government area of Abia State.
This comes hours after governor Okezie Ikpeazu left the area after a political engagement.
The police station located at the front gate of the LGA headquarters and about less than 10 metres from the LGA field was burnt down.
It has not been ascertained if there was any casualties during the attack.
Residents of the area said they heard sustained gunshots only to come out to see the station on fire.
