Police say IPOB attacking Rivers State to teach Wike a lesson

Brave Dickson

Police in Rivers State have continued to accuse members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the incessant killing of security agents, saying their motive is to teach Governor Nyesom Wike a lesson.

A senior police officer, ASP Aaron Nserim who revealed this in a chat with our correspondent said IPOB had decided to extend its attacks on security personnel to Rivers State because Wike proscribed its activities in the state.

The governor had in October 2020 proscribed IPOB in the state, following intelligence report that IPOB hijacked the #EndSARS protest and unleashed terror especially in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The state had in the last few weeks witnessed multiple attacks on police stations and other security formations and check points which have led to the killings of several security personnel.

In a bid to show productiveness, the governor had imposed night curfew in the state LGAs and land borders to forestall further attacks on the state.

But the hoodlums at the weekend defied the curfew and killed seven policemen according to official report from the state police command.

ASP Nserim asked, “why is IPOB attacking Rivers State and not attacking other non Igbo speaking states in the country?

“I think IPOB want to teach Wike a lesson for proscribing it during the #EndSARS protest.

“Only God can save this country.”

However, a renown supporter of Biafra in the state who craved not to have his identity revealed disagreed with the police point of view, saying that IPOB is attacking security personnel to get more arms and ammunition.
