Unknown gunmen on Monday attacked the zone 13 of the Nigerian Police, Ukpo, burning down buildings with petrol bombs.
Princess Nkiru Nwode, the public relations officer of the Zonal command said officers on duty repelled the gunmen who attempted to overrun Zonal Headquarters.
Nwode praised the courage of the police officers, saying that the Zone is committed to ensuring safety of lives and property at all times.
“The command suffered minimal damage but we successfully repelled the attack, and also recovered some weapons from the fleeing assailants”.
Anambra Broadcasting Service reports that the fire in one of the buildings was started by a petrol bomb thrown from a distance by the attackers, and this spread to cars packed in the vicinity.
