Two persons have been shot dead in a lingering cult supremacy battle in Awka.
The incident when occurred on Sunday evening opposite Unizik junction sent students running for safety.
One of the victims identified as Onwudinjo Anthony Emeka was a gym instructor in the area and a councillor representing Obeledu town in Anaocha Local Government Area, sources said.
The second victim was simply identified as Saint.
A student in the area said the shooting lasted for over 45 minutes as the gunmen ran rampage in search of rival gang members.
The student said Anthony was shot four times in front of his mother, adding that the gunmen waited for him to die before leaving the area.
No less than 20 persons have been killed since the clash began in February.
