National Sports Festival: Delta unwavering as team maintains lead

Team Delta state remains unwavering at the ongoing 20th National ‘Edo Games 2020’ sports festival holding in Benin city, Edo state, as they maintain the lead on the table with a total medal haul of 207, comprising of 83 Gold, 64 silver and 60 bronze medals.

According to the medals table released on Sunday night by the Games Services Unit of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), Host, Edo State sits comfortably at the second position with 67 gold, 66 silver and 60 bronze medals.

The top 5 leading the table are;
Delta – 83 Gold, 64 Silver, 60 Bronze
Edo – 67 Gold, 66 Silver, 60 Bronze
Bayelsa – 37 Gold, 32 Silver, 35 Bronze
Rivers – 21 Gold, 22 Silver, 32 Bronze
Lagos – 15 Gold, 15 Silver, 34 Bronze

The minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, revealed that the ongoing sports festival has rekindled the hopes of Nigerian youths as he sees a lot of young people who have a great future in sports.

He added that he is in high spirits, seeing the excitement the Games has brought to a lot of Nigerians.

The sports festival is slated to run through till the 14th of April, 2021.
