The US Department of State have released a report which states that there was no accurate information on the actual casualty figures recorded during the Lekki shooting.
According to the report released on Tuesday, March 31, the US said the contradictions in the various reports made it difficult to verify actual fatalities of the Lekki incident.
This has sparked reactions as DJ switch returns to the news over the authenticity of her claims on fatalities recorded during last year’s shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate, Lagos.
Hours before a curfew was scheduled by the Lagos state government on October 20, 2020, soldiers had stormed the Lekki tollgate where concerned youths protesting against police brutality and reformation had gathered and started shooting.
DJ Switch, who streamed the incident live, claimed that at least 15 persons were shot dead while several others sustained injuries.
This claims was amplified by Amnesty International, as they also insisted that about 10 people died of gunshot injuries during the incident.
The minister of information, Lai Mohammed had dismissed these allegations.
This development has since triggered heated reactions on social media, with Nigerians expressing mixed reactions over DJ Switch’s claims that people died at the Lekki toll gate.
