“E Choke”, Davido moves to get the word copyrighted

David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer, recently declared his intention to get his now-popular catchphrase ‘e choke’ copyrighted.

The 28-year-old, who is known for the usage of slangs like Tule, Who dey breet, E choke, and others, have been able to get his fans into using the words. The phrase has travelled beyond the country’s shores with superstars like Drake, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown using it.

For those who do not know, “E choke” has been said to have several meanings; it can be used to react to any situation; win, love, joy, betrayal, death, invention and a way of showing gratitude to haters.

According to Davido, the word ‘E choke’ is being misused, and he is thinking of getting it copyrighted before it gets out of hand.
