MMA: Nwachukwu, Ayana shine in DFC6 Fight Night

Bayelsa State-born Ebere Nwachukwu beat Peace Umeh in the Super Welter Weight women’s bout of the Dynamite Fighting Championship, Africa fight night DFC6 tagged “The Region of Heroes 2” which held at Eddiz Wine Bar in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking to newsmen after the fight, Ebere who won through a unanimous decision said she is thankful to DFC Africa for the platform and aims to achieve more.

In another entertaining bout, super striker Jack Ayana in his first professional fight proved just too strong for Daniel “Smiling Assassin” Iwouha of the International Heroes’ Institute of Mixed Martial Arts as he knocked him out just 56 seconds into the second round of their Welter Weight bout.

The final fight of the night between Christian ‘Super Man’ Emmanuel of Africa Top Team Nigeria and Olisaeke ‘Entertainment’ Tobechukwu ended in a draw after three hard-hitting rounds, Emmanuel remains unbeaten after nine fights, with seven wins and two draws.

Leader of DFC Africa and President of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation, NMMAF Ambassador Henry George speaking after the event thanked the media and partners for their support and confirmed there will be more Championships this year in order to give homegrown fighters the opportunity to showcase their talent.

“We are grateful to God that DFC6 has come and has been a success, our fighters did very well even the Muay Thai and WMO bout we had was a great, huge success. We are looking at having more bouts, more championships this year by the special grace of God and also giving our fighters, homegrown fighters the opportunity to showcase their talent and put their effort through the eyes of the camera. So we are grateful to God, to the media, and also individuals that graced this event, thank you.” He explained.

Also speaking President of the Grassroot Development Initiative, GDI Worldwide, Honourable Bright Amewhule who witnessed the event expressed joy and urged more youths to get involved.

He noted, “In fact, I feel so much happy and impressed this night, you know to have seen our youths participating in this kind of sporting activity. I am so joyful, and you know most of the people I see here I can see the expression on their faces, how happy they are to see the youth trying to promote this kind of sporting activity. What we know much is about football, athletics and all that but this one has come to take another shape in sporting activity so I am happy and I am also calling on our youths to get deeply involved in this kind of activity so that Rivers people, Nigerians, and Africans will also be proud”.

Some other notable personalities who witnessed the event were the President of the Muay Thai Federation of Nigeria, Paul Egonu. Obio Akpor Local Government Chairman, Honourable Solomon Eke who was represented by his supervisor on Education, Ehio Victor. Popular Master of Ceremony and Comedian, Angel D Laff among others.

The Dynamite Fighting Championship will hold its second fight night for the year 2021, DFC7 in June on a yet to be decided venue.
