Supreme Court ruling shows Rivers State Judiciary has been turned into Wike’s supermarket – APC chieftain

A founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has said that the judgement of the Supreme Court has exposed that the Rivers State judiciary has been turned into a political supermarket by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike.

Eze who stated this in a statement made available to media Houses, on Saturday further said that the judiciary, which ought to be the last hope of the ordinary man in Rivers State, through numerous gifts showered by the governor had been made a supermarket, where whatever judgment the governor wants to obtain can easily be obtained in the state judiciary.

He alleged that the judgement obtained by Abe and Aguma’s faction were easily obtained in the state judiciary under the behest of the governor.

He pointed out that the gifts the governor showered on them were like a Greek gift that carries boobitrap, which is aimed at controlling the state judiciary.

He appealed to the state judiciary to ignore the gifts and allow for true justice and independence of the judiciary.

He saluted the Supreme Court for their uncompromising justice and hoped that the state judiciary would learn from the Supreme Court and hold to the integrity of the judiciary.

The statement read in parts; “All the judgements against Rivers state APC by Justice Omeriji and other judges were thrown out by the supreme court thereby exposing the Rivers State Judiciary as a political supermarket that is managed by the State government.”

“The judgement clearly represents an appreciable degree of sensitive regard for fairness, justice and respect for the rule of law which have suffered incredible defeats before the Rivers State Judiciary, hoodwinked by the canker claws of Gov. Nyesom Wike”.

“With these rulings, the Rivers State Judiciary should purge herself of this unwarranted and disgraceful image it has earned and distance herself from unnecessary politicking of issues involving APC in the state forthwith and adhere to the counsel of the supreme court about the kind of judgements they give in Rivers State”.

“Justice has manifestly been seen to be done on the matters. The Supreme Court has laid to rest all speculations and uncertainties about the fate of the progressives party in the state and especially, the fortunes of Rivers people who have bore the brunt of the excruciating effects of the long judicial rigmaroles for which Senator Abe, Igo Aguma and their conspirators were responsible”.

” I commend the Supreme Court for helping to fumigate the APC against canker warms, caterpillars and rodents including flying, creeping, biting and sucking insects, which have inflicted pains and agony on the larger society”, he stated.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Court had on Friday, in Igo Aguma v All Progressives Congress & 2 Ors. (SC.17/2021), struck out the Appellant’s appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal affirming the authenticity of the Isaac Abbot Ogbobula led Caretaker Committee of the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

Similarly, in Dele Moses v Victor Giadom & 4 Ors. (SC.18/2020), the apex Court was of the candid opinion that the appeal was a mere academic exercise contrived to waste the judicious time of the Court and accordingly threw the appeal to the appropriate waste bin where it properly belongs.

In another Appeal brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Supreme Court held that Congresses should not be restricted to only those who bought forms in 2018 as such restriction would prejudice eligible members of the party who wish to stand elections within the party.
