Assailants kill two in Port Harcourt

Two persons were on Monday night shot dead by unknown gunmen at the old Aba road area of Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred at about 9:30 pm, causing panic and fears about a brewing court clash in the area.

They said the victims, two males, are suspected cultists and may have been killed by a rival group.

According to the eyewitnesses, the assailants alighted from a Toyota Sienna mini-van, shot the duo before driving off.

They also said that some boys who were present during the shooting, looted the belongings of the victims before police arrived and evacuated the bodies to the hospital.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command did not respond to inquiries for comments as at the time of filing this report.
