Gunmen kill OSPAC operative in ONELGA community

Gunmen suspected to be cultists who operate an oil bunkering ring have killed a member of the ONELGA Security and Peace Advisory Council, OSPAC, in Obagi community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Sources told theportcitynews that the gunmen attacked the OSPAC operatives simply identified as Ebuka and butchered him with a machete.

The gunmen also shot sporadically into the air to scare away neighbours from intervening during the attack.

This comes as attacks on the security outfit have intensified in the area, sparking fears of a return to a high level of insecurity in the area.

A source said that the oil thieves have of recent, declared war on the operatives of the outfits for leading military personnel into disrupting their operations.

Meanwhile, a hotel in Omoku, the headquarters of the LGA was attacked at the weekend by unknown gunmen leaving trails of blood behind.

At least seven lodgers were abducted during the attack on Abiama Rises hotel along Sambo road. A security guard said to be an OSPAC operative was also killed during the attack.

When contacted, the public relations officer of the Rivers State command said he has not been informed about the attack, promising to get back to our correspondent.
