NPFL: Kano Pillars pip River United in Kaduna

Ten-man Kano Pillars defeated Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt one-nil in matchday six of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Striker Nyima Nwagua scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute as Kano Pillars kept their excellent home record intact.

Nwagua’s goal, his second of the campaign proved enough for Sai Masu Gida who move up to fifth on the log with the win.

The home side was reduced to ten men when Abbas Rabiu got a straight red card for deliberately handling the ball in the 51st minute but the visitors could not breach defence.

The victory over Rivers United has moved Kano Pillars up to 5th on the log after the completion of the Match Day 6.

Pillars we will be playing away to Akwa United FC at the Nest Of Champions on Saturday in Uyo.

Kano Pillars is yet to concede a goal at home this season.

The defeat to Kano Pillars is the ‘Pride of Rivers’ second loss in the league after six games.

Rivers United are currently second on the league table with 12 points same as Enyimba fc who are third on the log.

Next for Rivers United is a home match against Adamawa United in matchday seven of the NPFL on Sunday, 31st January 2021 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
