CCC: We’ll not underrate Enyimba – Eguma

Ugochukwu Iwuchukwu

The Technical Director of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma says the Pride of Rivers will not underrate the Peoples Elephant Enyimba FC of Aba in the play-off stage of the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Two time Africa CAF Champions League winners, were relegated to the lower tier competition after their elimination from the CAF elite tournament by Sudanese side AL Merreikh of Sudan.

Stanley Eguma will speaking to newsmen after the side’s three-nil bashing of Bloemfontein Celtic of South Africa in the second leg tie of the second round stage of the CAF Confederation Cup said the team is more determined to succeed in the competition.

He said Enyimba fc is a known foe and will step up their game against the Peoples Elephant.

”We are not underrating them, because Enyimba has a lot of experience on the continent. Enyimba has been there for a long time and they understand the terrain very much than us. But the truth is that Rivers United is more than determined to succeed. The players, the management, and the sponsors have set-up a target and I think that it would be difficult for us to derail because we are all working round the clock to succeed. But I think that it’s a game that can go either side, he said.

Stanley Eguma also said that the play-off game between Rivers United and Enyimba will be a local derby.

He further said that the game will be tight game but said that only one team will progress to the group stage of the continental championship.

Eguma, however, predicted that Rivers United will have the upper hand during the two-legged encounter.
