Rivers court docks boy for snatching car with AK47 rifle

A court in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital presided over by Chief Magistrate, Nneka Eze-Obuzor has docked a 23 yr-old, Solomon John for allegedly stealing a vehicle.

The defendant was also accused to have been with AK47 rifle and magazines when arrested by men of the state police command.

The court therefore remanded John at the correctional facility (prison) in Port Harcourt while his case file has been ordered to be sent to the state Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

In a charge sheet marked as: PMC/833c/2020 and made available to our correspondent with photograph, the defendant is now facing three count charges ranging from stealing to illegal possession of firearm.

It reads in part: “That you (Solomon John) have in your possession, a Toyota car registered in Lagos number FST 485 FR, gold colour with chassis number INXBR32E36Z586327 and Engine Number IZZ6293191 valued at N1.8million suspected to have been stolen which you can not give account of.

“That you on the 29th day of March, 2020 at about 21.50hrs around Rumuokwurushi, Port Harcourt did steal one Tecno WX4 handset valued N28, 000 and N10,000 cash, property of one Koni by name.

“That you did have in your possession and under your control, one AK47 rifle beach No. 56-5212271 with five magazines loaded with 33 rounds of 7.62x39mm short live ammunition.”

The defendant is likely to serve 10yr jail term if convicted on count three.

According to the count, the offence is punishable under section 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Prohibition) Act, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
