Mr Ibu: ‘I was poisoned twice, once by my staff’

Florence Uwaeme

Popular Nigerian comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has narrated his ordeal in the hands of his people that wanted him dead.

The comic actor who has been absent on the big screen lately recounted his tale of woes. The actor alleged that for years now, he has been battling food poisoning which he was given to by his staff.

In the video of his interview, he recounted how people never believed that he doesn’t drink alcohol yet his stomach was bigger than that of a nine-month-old pregnancy.

Narrating his story, he said; “I don’t take alcohol, I eat little portions of food yet my stomach is as big as it is. This is as a result of the poison I was given. The drugs I’ve been taking is why I am able to see my legs.

“I went for a show at Nnewi, on reaching there, I was seized, beaten and I was forced to drink the poison. I had to take off from there, half alive. It was my friends that came and took me home. I didn’t wake up until they took me home to Enugu. They had already given up on me because I didn’t move throughout the journey. When I woke up, I couldn’t talk, couldn’t recognize anyone again. Even my wife, I couldn’t recognize her.

“God saved me. It wasn’t my time to die yet. When I woke up, there was cotton wool on my nose. If not for God, I would have been a story. The perpetrators of this act wanted me dead. Well, I leave the case for God to judge…

“The first time I was given poison, I was in my office and my staff served me some drink. After the drink, I became inebriated and fell several times in my office, I puked everywhere and none of my staff came to my rescue.”

The actor accused his enemies from his hometown who are bent on seeing him go down as the culprits. He assured them that it isn’t his time to die yet and he isn’t going anywhere until his time is up.
