Ebonyi governor tests positive for Covid-19

The governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Nweze Umahi has tested positive for coronavirus.

Umahi said in a statement on Saturday that the result of the test conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) came back positive, adding that some of his aides have also tested positive.

The governor, however, directed Kelechi Igwe, his deputy, to take over the coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic.

Umahi is the third Nigerian governor currently in isolation after contracting covid-19.

Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Rotimi Akeredelu of Ondo state this week tested positive for covid-19 and have been in isolation.
