Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said that all the South-South governors will be in Edo State during the September gubernatorial election to support Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Wike said that this is to ensure that nobody would be intimidated.
Wike in an interview on an electronic media on Wednesday stressed that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was 70 per cent sure of winning the Edo State governorship election.
He maintained that they were sure that All Progressives Congress (APC), knowing that it would not win the Edo election would do all it could to manipulate the election, which according to him was why the governors had made up their minds to ensure that nobody was intimidated.
“We are not sure that APC has a candidate. How can they say they have a candidate when their house is not in order? You know that by tomorrow they would push the blame to the judiciary. PDP has resolved its problem, and that was why I warned during the Edo primary that we must avoid getting into the kind of deep crisis rocking APC. The ruling APC has a crisis that would continue because the magnitude of the problem can’t be resolved now, it would continue.
The governor maintained that he was sure the APC was not going to give up easily that was why he warned that they should be careful, and ensure that those aspirants who were on ground before Obaseki came into the party were carried along in any decision that would be taken to avoid litigation.
“You can see the way they all went to the primary and raised their hands together. Now Obaseki is focused because there are no litigations. Anything you are doing as a party must be guided by the constitution. If people ignore the constitution and take to impunity, at the end of the day they would begin to blame the judiciary” he said.
