Delta, Edo top Rivers in covid-19 infections

Edo and Delta States have topped Rivers in the number of covid-19 infections in the Niger Delta region.

Rivers has also recorded the highest number of recoveries among the three top affected states in the region.

On the 1st of July 2020, 790 new confirmed cases and 13 deaths were recorded in Nigeria by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC.

Till date, 26484 cases have been confirmed, 10152 cases have been discharged and 603 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 790 new cases are reported from 21 states- Delta(166), Lagos(120), Enugu(66), FCT(65), Edo(60), Ogun(43), Kano(41), Kaduna(39), Ondo(33), Rivers(32), Bayelsa(29), Katsina(21), Imo(20), Kwara(18), Oyo(11), Abia(10), Benue(6), Gombe(4), Yobe(2), Bauchi(2), Kebbi(2).

So far, Edo has recorded 1,165 infections with 707 being the number of active cases while 418 are the number of the discharged person with 40 deaths.

Delta, on the other hand, has recorded 1,131 infections with 918 of which are active cases, 190 represent the number of discharged cases while 23 have died.

Rivers, however, has the highest number of recoveries with a total number of 1,088 infections and 402 active cases. A total of 648 have recovered while 38 have died.
