JTF arrests 7 kidnappers in Rivers community

Operatives of the Joint Task Force, JTF, have arrested seven suspected kidnappers in Mbiama, Agbo and Akiogbologbo communities in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State and Bayelsa State.

The arrest stirred wild jubilation in the area at the weekend with residents heaving a sigh of relief following months of attack by the bandits.

The raid follows the kidnapping of four church goers weeks ago on their way to a night vigil with the area becoming notorious for criminal activities.

The JTF team comprising of Army officers, police officers and DSS operatives raided several camps belonging to the suspects were they were apprehended on Sunday.

It was gathered that the JTF team who acted on credible intelligence stormed the hideout of one of the gang members and arrested 4 kidnappers.

Sources disclosed that the member of the gang who were first arrested at the first camp later took security team to the hideout of three other members of the gang in Bayelsa State.

Local sources told theportcitynews.com that some of the kidnap victims have identified the suspects.
