TaskForce personnel kills ‘Keke’ operator in Rivers Community

A protest erupted in Rumuodara Community, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday over an incident involving a tricycle operator.

Theportcitynews gathered that one person was killed while gunshots were reportedly heard in some parts of the community.

Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, which operates in the area had sent a security alert to its staff stating that there are an ongoing shooting and burning of houses by some aggrieved youths at Rumuodara/Eliozu axis of Obio/Akpor LGA.

The company also advised staff to avoid the area for now.

It was gathered that Youths from Rumuodara took to the street to protest the killing of a tricycle operator identified as Clement Odukpani who was killed with a machete by a ‘Keke’ taskforce personnel.

Sources said the incident happened on Sunday but Mr Clement Odukpani died in early hours of Tuesday.

The sources added that the suspect has been arrested by Okporo Police Division and transferred to the state’s command Criminal Investigating Department.
