MIxed Reactions Trail Simeon Nwakaudu’s Death ….As PH residents allege cover-up.

By Kelechi Esogwa-Amadi

The sudden death of Governor Nyesom Wike’s special assistant on electronic media, Simeon Nwakudu is generating mixed reactions in Rivers State.

While many residents of the state believe that he died naturally, others fear that he may have died of health complications that may not be unconnected with one of the diseases, alleging that the state government is hiding the truth concerning the real cause of Simeon Nwakudu’s death.

The Rivers State Government had through a statement by the commissioner of information, Paulinus Nsirim, claimed that Nwakudu died after a brief illness at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

But TPCN understands that some Rivers residents are not no satisfied with the government’s description of the cause of Simeon’s death as brief illness.

Michael Ogbonda, a youth leader in one of the political parties in Rivers State, accused the government of not being open enough concerning Nwakudu’s death.

He said: “I actually sympathize with the bereaved family but I have a problem with the state government’s attitude towards this death. They said it’s brief illness but they didn’t tell us the type of illness Simeon died of. In a period where every death is suspected to be Corona virus related, it would have been fair to tell Rivers people the type of illness killed Simeon.”

Also, a member of Civil Liberties Organization who pleaded anonymity said it would have been proper for the government to conduct autopsy on Nwakudu to know what killed him. He added: “They should have done a test to know his problem . If they didn’t, then an autopsy will be another option.”
