Police officer strangled to death in Imo

A police inspector attached to Imo State government house has been found strangled to death along Avana Primary School Road, Shell Camp in Owerri.

The deceased, inspector Haruna Kawura was strangled death, police sources claimed as the body had bruises.

The inspector was said to have gone out for drinks on Monday night and only to be found lying dead on Tuesday morning.

When our correspondent visited the scene, people including policemen were seen discussing his death and what could have led to his death.

A colleague of the deceased said that the corpse of the inspector was evacuated in an ambulance from the government house.

He said “The victim is Haruna Kawura. He was an inspector of police. He was demobbed from mobile police in the North and was posted to Imo state and was later posted to Imo government house.

“His death was strange. There were bruises on his body. He must have been strangulated as there was gunshot on his body.”

When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the killing and disclosed that investigation had commenced on the matter.
