A female Police Officer has been shot dead by a male colleague attached to Rivers State Government Task Force.
The yet-to-be-named female officer was dead shot dead by the officer who was enforcing the Rivers State Government’s ban on street trading at the Eneka area of Obio Akpor Local Government Area.
The reason for the shooting was not immediately ascertained.
Some residents of the area claimed the deceased, a traffic police officer, tried to block members of the Taskforce team from destroying wares of traders operating in the area before she was shot by the male colleague.
They quickly fled the area upon realising she had died.
When contacted, the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, did not respond to inquiries for comment.
However, the Rivers Civil Society Organizations has called for justice for the female police officer.
Enefa Georgewill, chairman of RIVSCO called for the arrest and prosecution of the Task Force team.
