A Rivers State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted bail to two pilots working with Caverton Helicopters who were arrested for contravening the Executive Order of the Rivers Governor to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the State.
The Magistrate granted bail Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari and the 10 passengers flown into Rivers State by the two pilots after hearing the bail application by their counsel, Nwokedi Ibe.
Attorney-General of Rivers State, Professor Zaccheus Adangor who appeared for the State did not oppose the bail application but however, urged the Court to set out bail conditions to ensure that the pilots attend their trial.
The court demanded a surety who must be a management staff of Caverton Helicopters, adding that the surety must own a landed property in Port Harcourt and ensure the two pilots attend trials.
The Court added that the surety will sign a bail bond of N1million each for the two pilots and adjourned the trial to May 19, 2020.
The court asked the ten passengers to present two sureties who must be management staff of Caverton Helicopters who are to sign a bail bond of N500, 000 for them.
They are to undertake to bring the accused persons trial.
