The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere has commenced the distribution of free food and two thousand naira cash gift to the less privileged ones in the state as a way of providing palliatives to residents of Port Harcourt during the lockdown over the novel coronavirus.
Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere during the flag-off of the free food distribution at the OPM Free Restaurant at Rukpoku said the gesture is to assist the less privileged ones who could not afford for themselves during this period.
Chibuzor Chinyere said that free food distribution will be sustained throughout the duration of the lockdown.
He said that OPM free restaurant has been in existence for the past seven years and said that God will continue to provide for the church to continue with its charity work.
The cleric said that the palliative measures are for everyone whether Christian or Muslim stating that the church does not discriminate.
He also called on Christians to maintain personal hygiene and follow all guidelines provided by NCDC and the ministry of health.
Chibuzor Chinyere said that coronavirus is real and advised Christians not to take for granted.
He reminded Christians in the state that many people have lost their lives around the world due to covid-19.
The clergyman, however, believes that God will provide a solution to the coronavirus pandemic.
He believed that a cure for the virus will soon be out and also asked Christians to continue to pray for God’s protection during this period.
The General Overseer of OPM Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere during the programme commended the State Government for its proactive measures in curtailing the spread of the disease.
He noted that the lockdown will curtail the spread of the disease in Rivers State.
Our correspondent reports that hundreds of people benefitted from the free food distribution and the cash gift during the flag-off of the programme.
