Amaechi tackles South East governors over regional security outfit

Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, a first republic minister has attacked South-East governors over their delay in setting up a security outfit in the region.

According to the Sun, the former minister called on the people of the region to protect themselves if the South-East governors fail to create the security outfit.

He made this call amidst the insecurity crisis affecting the country, he called on the people of South-East to remain vigilant.

This is coming days after the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu accused Southeast governors of supporting herdsmen attack in the region.

However, Amechi in his statement said, “If others are forming their own security organizations and the South-East governors feel their own security organization is the one that will be supervised by the Inspector General of Police, it shows the kind of people and governments we have.”

He further stated that the South-East governors are not concerned about security, because they are protected.

According to him, when he was a Minister in the First Republic, he was only assigned one police orderly, “but today they move about with scores of policemen enough to form a police post or station in addition to members of Directorate of State Service (DSS)”
